Believe it or not,  St. Helena has a nine
whole golf course.  We didn't have time
to play, but it didn't  look that busy.
Since there is no airport, don't plan on
flying in for a quick round.

There is no sand on the island, so
we're not sure what they put in the
traps!
The Governor's Mansion (left) is
currently vacant, since the current
Governor was been recalled to
England.  The town had a party to
celebrate his departure.  Not sure
what all that was about.

Also of note, the front yard houses
several large tortoises who are
reportedly over 100 years old.

This one named Johnny, seemed
pretty bored of posing with all the
tourists.

Johnny is apparently their equivalent
to our First Dog at the White House?

Jacob's Ladder (left) was built in 1829
as an inclined plane.  It was used to
haul manure up from town and goods
down.

It is 600 feet high and has 700 steps!

I climbed easily as you can see.
I couldn't resist these two pictures.  The one on the left above is Pillings Middle School.  I could hear them reciting
something as we walked by.

The right picture is their public library.  It was smaller than our yacht inside, very dark, and had a real card
catalog.
